A Penny on the Needle

02 Dec

Let’s keep it all hush hush

No need to rush into the thicket
It’s a classic case of “fall in love too easily”
Strident notes roar and are forgotten

No, let us not be loud
Like the moment before the needle drops
A scratch before we pick up the pace
And livelihood is found on the line

Yes, let’s be muted
Like the colors of sophistication
A soft blush, a chaste nude here and there
Is enough to make it right

If we keep it together
Hold our decorous breaths,
A little gasp reveals all
The decoration bound

Too harsh to expire,
Too kind to force back in,
The sounds of respiration
Come to a crescendo
